Black Sun Ensemble is pleased to announce the latest release on Slowburn Records,
LIVE at KXCI Volume II
Directly after we returned from the South By Southwest Music Festival in Austin Texas last March we had the honor of being the featured guest on the Locals Only Program at 92.1 KXCI Tucson.  The Host Don Jennings and engineer Duncan Hudson provided a wonderful, relaxed environment for us to focus in on a truly fine performance of our lastest material.  For those of you familiar with the first volume's heavy metal cacophone of sound, this is a marked difference as the focus is on Jesus Angel del Paz's brilliant fretwork on the Jerry Jones Coral Electric Sitar.  The balance of the band provides tasteful, acoustic instrumental support.  Brian Maloney plays tenor saxophone and sharai providing an alternate voice that carries the melody of Lilith and engages in interesting interplay of call and response during The Shinig One.  John Paul Marchand provides great rhythmic support and atmospheres on dumbek, tibetan cymbals and other ethnic percussion.  Eric Johnson kept a great driving pulse on the kick drum while switching off between a very unique banjo sound and Rickenbacker bass to add tremendous color and variety to each piece.  The album was professionally mastered by John Axtell at Cranky Jesus Studios and has beautiful warm sounds without a hint of static or hiss.
